I don’t think I’d even give this place one star. My power steering went on my car and being new to the city someone recommend this place. What a nightmare. After telling me I needed all this other work done and “fixing” my power steering I left with a huge bill and a “fixed car”. A DAY later my power steering went out, A DAY LATER!!! I called back, the only plus I would give this place is the guy on the phone was nice, he told me to bring it back in and they’d take a look. Once again they “fixed” my power steering and once again my power steering went out. I took it back to them FIVE times and every time a day or less later it would break, one time my power steering stop working hours after picking it up from them. I finally went somewhere else and had it fixed and over 2 years later I still have power steering that works. I like to flip them off every time I drive by.

I love these guys. Seriously, I've taken my car there 3 times in the past years and a half for work that was more involved than just an oil change. I've had 2 trip inspections done and they are totally up front - this is what should be taken care of immediately, this can wait. They never try to use scare tactics and have never talked down to me because I'm female. Pricing is fair and work is done quickly, I've never had to go more than one workday. The friend that recommended them is a car nut and has been going there for 12 years or something ridiculous like that - these guys are quality!

I've had 2 trip inspections done and they are totally up front - this is what should be taken care of immediately, this can wait. They never try to use scare tactics and have never talked down to me because I'm female. Pricing is fair and work is done quickly, I've never had to go more than one workday. The friend that recommended them is a car nut and has been going there for 12 years or something ridiculous like that - these guys are quality!

hello friends and neighbor's. iBob, family and i has been customers ! 2003 purchased , needed loving, a lot of replaced shocks, motor flushed all fluids, more , would give a 10 rating.
Son of a mechanic , growing up, i can tell , trained by new technology markets, car dealers , small-businesses. the certificates on walls proves , all of the professional training , that cost the Schafer business funds, but that shows you why i am a regular, toyota runs so well , first time back here at SCHAFERS AUTO 2-3 years.
i highly recommend the shop.

Got a coupon in the mail for an oil change and figured we would try them out. We do our best to support the mom and pop shops around the city. After the oil change they presented us with all the things "wrong" with the vehicle that they were happy to fix for a high fee. One of the things they said needed to be replaced did NOT need replacing. We had already replaced it less than a year ago. When confronted with this information they said "oops, we must have made a mistake". Yeah, a $900 mistake?!?! No way. Beware of this place, especially if you don't know what's going on under your hood.

This place is such a rip off. I went here a couple months ago because my car needed knew brake pads. They come out and say I will need about $1600 of work. I talked the price down to $1200 just for the brakes and spent the last 3 months paying it off. Not to mention whoever worked on our car forgot to put on a hubcap and when I drove back to get it, they couldn't find it. They kindly offered to give us all new hubcaps which was great except that they are trash and are already damaged from the wear and tear of philly roads. We foolishly came back a little after for our inspections and all of a sudden they are saying we need all new tires.... I got new tires a year ago!!!! Don't give this place your money as they definitely do their best to take advantage of you. It's one thing after the other with them.

Rip off beware! My truck went there for an all wheel alignment not too long again and I had to complain to the owner because it still was not driving straight. He agreed to look at it again and the second time it was a little better but the steering wheel still would shift to the left when I would use the break or go over a bump. I accepted the job they did because my truck was in an accident and figured it was as good as it could get. I recently dropped my truck off at Schafer's Auto Center because I had a front low beam lightbulb out and to get an inspection. I just got a call from Schafer's and they are telling me I need a front end alignment. My truck never was properly aligned to begin with if a mechanics claiming I need a front end alignment again. There excuse was "welcome to Philadelphia " as if the location is to blame for my truck getting out of alignment so quickly. I ordered them not to do any work on my truck and that I will pick it up tomorrow in the morning. We will see if they preform work against my will. I do not trust them! Please learn from my mistake!
