The best car inspection place I have ever been to. They will help you right away and is very friendly. Will be coming back again!
This place is TOP NOTCH. They have incredible customer service and I love the way they conduct their business. Always friendly and accommodating. Finally a car place you can trust!
Have tried to overcharge my girlfriend on multiple occasions now starting with a 600+ labor charge for front axle pad and rotor set lol, so of course I went ahead and did them myself... came to find the wheel they had recently removed to be way overtorqued (Breaker bar wouldn’t do the job had to use a high torque impact) to remove the lugs. The service rep in charge of her car last said the average customer comes in for 2 alignments a year LOL. Crooks.
$1500 for a single brakeline + one lightbulb replaced on a 2007 Honda Pilot last October.The lady said they had to drop the subframe to get to the line, the guy said they had to custom make the brakeline since the part was not available. That added a few hours to the labor cost.I am unsure what to make of this. Based on forums and websites I read, this is the most expensive single brakeline job I have seen by far, especially for a Honda Pilot. The parts appear to be widely available online and local auto stores, OEM or non-OEM.The lady also told me they inspected the other brakelines and they didnt need replacement at the time. This is also puzzling to me. If one line is rusted through and broke, and the subframe has been dropped, wouldn't it make sense to replace all the lines?The last experience I had with Schafer's was good. I had the front pipe of my pilot replaced for $700, which was within normal range.
I came in to get a tire patched and everyone there was great! It was quick, easy, and very reasonably priced. I will definitely be returning for maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
Schaffer’s Auto treated me like family. Cindy, Jennifer ,Armand, Matt and George all have Excellent Customer Service!!! My catalytic converter was stolen. When I called Cindy answered the phone and told me I could come in. My suv was done fast. George did an Excellent job installing my new catalytic converter!!! Never go here for an inspection. If you fail an inspection due to front brakes needing replaced, most places will quote you and allow you to get brakes fixed elsewhere and then bring it back for the inspection tag. Not so here. They will charge you for a failed inspection and if you have the brakes fixed elsewhere they will require a re-inspection of $97.Oh and by the way front brakes and rotor for a camry $773. They cost me $350 at another garage.Shafer’s is either price gouging since they know they have me paying them $97 regardless. Or they just normally charge astronomically high for front brake and rotor replacement.Save your money and time, go somewhere else for your auto repairs.
I would not recommend Schafer for your car inspection, especially if you are close to the expiration date. First, it is $97. And also, they may take advantage of your situation.I went somewhere else and their report completely disagreed.Other than that, they have great manners and communicate very well.
I will always hype up auto centers in Philly that are 100% in customer service and create a safe pleasant space for a woman. Just dropped off a car to be inspected and everyone inside was so so sweet and helpful. See you soon Schafer, you guys are great.
Just used Schaefer's for the first time - and wow! What a great experience. Quick, efficient, affordable and so so kind. They even washed my car for me after they inspected it! Can't recommend these guys more, and will definitely be using them again next year.
I recently had my first experience at Schafer's and it won't be my last. I was very impressed with both the customer service and the quality of the repair itself. Unfortunately this was the second time my catalytic converter was stolen, and the first time a different garage returned the car with a rattling exhaust system. After Schafer's repair, the car was much quieter again. Also, this time the insurance adjuster was very challenging to reach, and Schafer's persisted in pursuing answers and in regularly communicating with me. I couldn't have asked for more helpful service. I was happy enough with my current mechanic (who recommended Schafer's for this particular job), but Schafer's had earned my business from here on out. Highly recommend.

Listen!! Let's be real. As a woman, if you (like me) know nothing about cars, getting car stuff done can feel like a crapshoot because it's 50/50 on if they're gonna rip you off.
Never ever that at Schafer's! They're incredible. Everyone from front desk to the techs are patient, kind, and so willing to explain what's going on, lay out the options, and help w/ pricing when they can. I go to them for everything, inspections to major repairs, and the twice-a-year tire alignment (thanks, south Philly roads).
A feature I really love: they send you a text after each appt with a link to a full diagnostic where each aspect of the vehicle is graded great, okay, and needs work, which is so helpful for planning for big expenses. Just another example of their transparent, customer-focused perspective.
Great service! Super easy to work with, quick service at a convenient location. Got my inspection and wheel alignment done. They provided a report with anything that may need work in the future as well. The staff here is extremely helpful and communicates properly throughout the process of having my car inspected here. Very enjoyable experience given how crazy the world has been.
Honest mechanics and a very nice waiting area. They will take the time to explain what's going on with your car and what repairs are urgent, or can wait. Seriously these guys are the best.
I came in for an inspection and emissions test. I ended getting new air filters. They were helpful and didn’t try to upsell me on maintenance that wasn’t crucial. Honest, fast service and I got an unexpected car wash! I would recommend Schafer’s to anyone. I’ll be back for regular oil changes.
I made an appointment online, they called me to confirm. I called again to see whether I could drop my car off early, they let me know that was fine. I showed up, parked, and walked into their lobby. Two smiling faces, and a great experience. They sent a digital file with all of my auto issues rated by color for severity and a photo with a description of the necessary repairs. I picked it up that day and it wasn't a bad price! Seriously great, will go there again.
