RIPOFF ARTIST - STAY AWAY!! I took my car to Schafer b/c of leaking brake fluid. I specifically requested for them to look at this issue and let me know what they find. They said to look at the car they charge $79 plus tax - no problem I get it. The next day I received a text with photos of my car and a list of various unrelated issues they suggested I should fix which totaled $2,700.00. When I called the shop I spoke to Armon who tried to use fear based sales tactics trying to convince me my car needed this extra work none of which was related to the brake fluid problem. When I asked Armon for a price on fixing the brake fluid leak he said they would do it for $720. but would make me sign a release that would release them from liability. I quickly realized these people are FOS, liars, and not to be trusted. When I went to pick up my car I was greeted by a super rude women who warned me to be careful driving my car b/c the breaks were low so I asked her if I could purchase break fluid from her and she said she wouldn't sell it to me. I guess you can call that passive aggressive. She couldn't have been nastier and was totally pissed I was on to their scamming BS and taking my car elsewhere. Armon was there but didn't have the balls to look at me b/c he as well realized I was on to his scamming BS and I know a few things about cars (totally caught in lies). Long story short, I drove safely to another local shop and they repaired my brake fluid leak - the whole job cost $149.00 parts and labor included from a very honest and skilled mechanic. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Schafer's Auto, they prey on people who do not understand cars, they over sell and over charge for repairs that are not needed.

I have nothing but praise for Schafer's! It was incredibly easy to get an appointment for the services I needed and the staff were helpful every step of the way. I loved that during my vehicle inspection I got updates and photos of what was being check and the minimal issues that were found. This gave me confidence that the recommendations being made were legit and not just a way to make extra money off me. I will be back for all my future service needs.

Mike and his crew always go above and beyond. The service is top notch (contactless payment, cleaning your car, honest feedback), the communication is incredible (automated reports with details and photos). You won’t find a better mechanic in Philadelphia, period.
DON’T BE FOOLED BY THEIR OVERLY NICE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They are sneaky, and not to be trusted with your car.Came to this place as a first-time car owner just looking for a state inspection. They overcharged me so much that by the end of inspection, I was paying over $400. My air worked completely fine before arriving, and my check engine was off. After leaving, both were the opposite. Days later, I found out by another mechanic that Scafer’s had PURPOSELY removed the A/C clutch relay from my car, which caused the air to not work at all, and turned on the check engine light. They acted as if they couldn’t understand why this had happened, but were the ONLY HANDS to even TOUCH my car. Just another evil mechanic taking advantage of a customer.
So let me tell you about this wonderful place I came across by luck.I have been looking for a place to check what was happening to my car after the check engine light came on. I had no clue what was happening as i needed that to be off to get my car inspected. I called earlier this week and Jennifer (the best person ever if i may say) assured me that i can go and get a complimentary whole car system check to really find out was was wrong. Keep in mind its an old car and it looks like the previous owner wasn't really into checking internal issues. Today i went in to see what was happening to my 2010 Honda CRV. Anyways once the report came back she told me exactly what was wrong and even send it to my phone, so i could go along with what she was talking about, with pictures and all. She gave me the good the bad and the ugly and told me what exactly i needed to fix, so you know i would get in a wreck or something. Her calming tone and reassurance allowed me to trust her and do what she recommended. At the end I had to change my catalytic converter, align my tires and axes, and get a new battery as the old one was about to die. The other things she explained it to me and made sure that it wasn't a serious issue but that i should consider changing them once i had a bit more money in my pocket. Overall, what i can tell you is that they have my service for life and i will be going to them for everything car related. The management aka Jennifer and the whole team made sure my car was back to running in great conditions. And the best part is that there is warranty with what ever they do. I highly recommend it and highly encourage anyone looking for a local reliable place to go here. I went in with a smile and came out with a bigger smile. Also, they have this little section where i was relaxing and doing school work. Best place ever. Thank you guys
For decades I found myself troubled by unwanted car repairs. This lead to trial and error in finding a reputable service station. Honesty is a number one policy when repairing your hard-earned transportation, and with Schafer's Auto Center, I found loyalty, sympathy, empathy, and above all new family. Love you guys, and I can't thank you enough. I highly recommend Schafer's Auto Center to all in need of vehicle servicing.
They stand behind their work. I had a new alternator put in by the dealer. It died again after only 15 months and they told me it was outside their one year warranty. Schafer's replaced with a new alternator and offers a lifetime warranty. Lifetime! I'll never go back to the dealer again. The owner cares about his customers and provides great service. Thanks!
The mechanic I used for the past 6 years seems to have shutdown unexpectedly perhaps due to covid. I needed an oil change, my ac checked out, and my muffler started making noise. Having a good autoshop that I can trust is always a concern for me since I don't know much about cars and too many of them take advantage of that. Schafers was near by and had good reviews so I decided to try them out. Everyone was super friendly and professional. I really liked that they send you a link with pictures and video showing what they saw, and what work they reccomend to get done. A technician called me to walk me through it and share costs. When I came to pick up my car the owner Michael even ran my car to get it washed. They also had social distancing, lysol cleaning etc in place. Would reccomend trying them out, I will definitely be returning.
I went to Schafer’s for some exhaust work to pass the state inspection and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. We just moved here from Atlanta and had been to two other shops where we felt like we were being taken for all of our money. I went to Schafer and Mike hooked me up with the exhaust work and state inspection for a third of what the others were charging. He was super nice and went the extra mile to help us out.When you find a good mechanic you stick with them. We are a three car family and every one of them is going to Schafer for their maintenance and inspections. You won’t regret going here!
Great customer service! The owner, Mike is a stand up guy and does good work. Had both of my catalytic converters stolen and he was able to replace them with a universal one, that ended up saving me a good $1000. Along with that, he offered a free oil change the next time I came in, which was unnecessary but greatly appreciated. All in all, I’ll be using his shop as he tells me what’s going on straight up and doesn’t penny pinch. Highly recommend.
I went for an oil change. The customer service over the phone and in person was super friendly & helpful (name dropping Jennifer for being so sweet). They send you an inspection update over text, and didn't try to push my (minor) car issues (even suggesting it would be fine to fix months from now). Seemed very honest, and I appreciated that!A plus for anyone reading, they do over night drop offs!
I pulled in because my engine light went on when driving on 76 East and I quickly googled "nearest mechanic". Boy was it a blessing I pulled into Schafer's. It is easily the best experience I have had at a mechanic ever. If I lived closer, I live an hour away, Schafer would be my choice for all of my auto needs. I cannot recommend them enough. They are honest and have earned my complete trust.
After receiving their flyer by mail yesterday, I decided to drop by and see if I could get a new car inspection today.I spoke with Jennifer and found her to be extremely helpful and friendly. Although by appointment only she was able to squeeze me in almost immediately. Jennifer was great! She offered me the use of their charging station and a good cup of coffee. I received a copy of the inspection via text and a call when the car was ready. Oh, and they even washed it!! Outstanding customer service!! Thank you
Always friendly, prompt and professional. Also, they get you a Lyft or Uber to work or home.

Upcharged through the roof! Brought in for an emergency repair. Asked them to inspect the car while it was in. Called me and quoted me a price, gave them the go ahead. Week later called and said wrong part its actually twice as much and an additional 500 - 700 dollars of work needed to be done to pass inspection. Get the car back and the inspection wasn't done, when inquired they said oh our mistake, we can do it but it will cost this much more. Very misleading, never again! The extra work I agreed to was to pass inspection why would you give if back after 3k worth of work with an out of date inspection sticker still. I brought my car there because I trusted them in the past. My mistake was letting them know that and they took advantage of it. After this experience other things add up as well, like how every time it has been there they tried to get me to buy a new battery. I just got one 5 months ago and they tried to tell me it tested low. Be careful with places like this!
