I have an '85 diesel Mercedes they've kept running for years. Couldn't be more pleased. And, now they use solar energy.

We've had several service repairs on several vehicles and Metric Motors has always been a pleasure to deal with -- courteous, prompt, and reliable!

I would try anybody else. They could not find the problem on my electrical system, but I did. To be fair, the owner has the best equipment in town, high overhead, and needs to cover these costs.

In town for skiing when noticed small oil leak at Toas Ski Valley. Showed up at Metric "apres ski" at 4 pm. Metric provided immediate service. Diagnosed likely problem (valve cover gasket), did needed oil change and radiator flush before COB so we did not have to miss any time on the slopes.

Drove in with an ailing car and drove away an hour later all fixed up. Appreciated the immediate service, especially as a first-time customer. I'm hooked and will no longer be driving to Santa Fe for my regular maintenance. And I'm grateful to have a local source for repairs should I have something else fail on my car. The friendly staff and friendly dogs were a big plus as well!

While on our road trip from Seattle to Taos, our Volkswagen Eurovan had an issue with one of its windows -- we brought it to Metric Motors and they were great. Everyone knows someone who has a bad story about their car breaking down while out of town and the local repair shop not doing good work because they're not local, right? That wasn't the case here -- Metric Motors was very professional, honest, and fair. Also, their dog is really cool!

My wife and I live part time in Taos and part time in California - our 7 year old Audi Q5 has faithfully shuttled us back and forth several times, but when I tried to start it up last week, the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree, with four indicator lights indicating trouble & the engine turned over 3-4x longer than usual before starting. I thought we were in for a huge bill and painful ordeal, but a friend recommended Metric Motors and I'm so grateful he did. Juan fixed our car in only a few hours - after finding out that rodents had chewed some wiring, he replaced that and even checked out the rest of the car for free (confirming there were no other repairs needed & not trying to sell us anything additional). Metric Motors was professional throughout - calling the day before our appointment with a reminder and following up the day of with a diagnosis before Juan ultimately fixed everything. The best part? The price - incredibly reasonable. Thanks, Juan!

My car broke down while I was on vacation. The tow truck guy recommended this shop. I'm not sure what to say about this honestly. I got one estimate, then asked to get a print out of the report they ran to see what codes the car was giving off. That's the point at which everything got screwy. They said they didn't have the ability to print out that report, which in my opinion is horseshit, because everywhere else I've ever been does. They said they could manually add the codes to my receipt. Then all the sudden my $800 estimate turns into "well another part could have been damaged also...we'll have to see. Then that 2nd part is of course damaged and takes my repairs up to $2,000 and then another code is going off (allegedly) and if those need to be repaired $3,500. I think they knew that I was stuck in town, needing to get home for work, and they felt they had me at their mercy. I would have to pay whatever they said. Well I told them to stop working on it immediately and towed my car off. I didn't find these guys to be very trustworthy.

I'm traveling from Vermont and they got my car in, fixed my rear strut (rubbing on back tire) in a very quick amount of time. Made me feel at home and got me on my trip in no time at all. I owe you all. Thanks Dave and Dawn!!

Like these guys. They have been very helpful with my wrangler any time I have had trouble on my yearly visit to Taos. Friendly, lots of advice, don't try to push you into anything. I'll be back for sure.

It is always gut wrenching to have to get your car serviced when traveling and especially so for me because my hybrid model is only on the market 2 years. I was very pleased with the professional top notch service I got when I took it to Metric Motors. I highly recommend them if you are in the Taos area and require some maintenance or repair.

Well, different strokes for different folks. My experience with Metric Motorshas only been positive. My spouse and I have been regular clients since20002 and our cars have been and are quite well maintained. The mechanics, and staff are not only personable, they know and do a great job at what theydo, and if they didn't I doubt the business would have survived for allthese many years.BRAVO METRIC MOTORS!!!!!!Keep doing what you've been doing...., it's working quite well for most of ushere in Taos.

My car died during a Taos ski trip. I was able to get it to Metric Motors. Although it was over the Christmas holiday, they stayed late. They knew I was in from out of town and was in a bind. They could have taken advantage of the situation, but didn't. After diagnosing the problem they gave me an estimate. I was shocked when the actual cost was less than the estimate!! I worked with Jessie and could not have been more pleased!!! Was refreshing to work with a shop like this. Exceeded my expectations in every way.

We were on a Road trip across the country and needed to fill up our tires with nitrogen. They did it happily for free which was just awesome, as we were pressed to find even a normal air pump at a gas station that wasn't out of service!

Infuriating. I was recommended this place by an old boss, saying he has a good friend that works here and that they're trustworthy. Needed tires changed out and a little maintenance - they break my bolt key and then tell me it's not their fault and want to charge me for it. I fight them on it, say that's outrageous - you break it, you buy it. They thought they were doing ME a favor by not charging labor. Are you kidding me? Labor because YOU broke something? I don't think so. So I argue more - well the lady that I was dealing with decides to turn the tables and starts taking my invoice saying she'll add labor in. EXCUSE ME? Don't you ever treat a customer like that. And to think they pride themselves on their customer service. Don't let the thank you notes on the wall fool you.

Avoid this place if you can. The dogs are nice, the men behind the counter and specifically the owner are NOT. What should have been a few days at most ended up being more than a week. The owner basically told me to shut up so he could talk; This was as I was explaining that the $1,600 clutch they put in my car was already failing after a few weeks! I spent thousands on hotels, meals and two weeks of rental car fees as well as had to drive home out of state and all the way back down to get my car once they did eventually "fix" it. They took a week to put in the wrong clutch and it's already going...This would have been a one day job and I would have the right parts for the same price at my shop back home. Shockingly rude, I recommend they look the definition of "service" up in the dictionary, as Metric Motors does not understand what this term means. The women working there seem pleasant enough however neither the guy who handled my order or the owner were willing to listen to myself or my mechanic at any time.

I brought my car in for a simple idle adjustmant, But, After being charged almost $1000, having to pay for an overnight room because they didn't finish the work that day as promised, having to bring the car back and leave it again for several days. My car runs worse than it did before and sustained even more damage from their rough handling and poor workmanship. I was treated with disrespect and neglect by " Joe" the owner, who has a very bad attitude problem and is in complete denial. I wouldn't go back if it was the last repair shop on earth, I'd rather have to walk than go through that nightmare again!

While I love living in Northern New Mexico, towing one's car 70+ miles to the nearest VW repair shop is not one of my favorite things... Especially when I didn't know anything about this place! What I was hoping was going to be an inexpensive, easy fix, came back a 12 hour, $1200 (before tax!) job. I work for a non-profit and am a full time student - money isn't really something I would consider a part of my life! However, I need my car so I did some homework, talked to my old VW mechanic and found that I was getting good information and a reasonable quote for the job. Well, color me thrilled when I get a call from the awesome guys at Metric Motors telling me that they did some research and figured out a way to do the job, fix the oil leak, and save me around $550 in labor. Uh huh. I said IN LABOR. These guys knew I was willing to credit card it up and pay what I needed to to get my car fixed. They could have easily kept their mouths shut, and would have made a pretty penny off of me - but they didn't. They showed honesty and excellent work ethic. I definitely consider them "the guys that work on my car" now! My faith in humanity is restored... Well, maybe just my faith in really being able to find an honest mechanic...
