I live up north now but I send all my friends to Hometown if they are in the suburbs or Action Auto if they are closer to South MPLS. Spohn family has been repairing my family's vehicles for decades. It's nice to have a family owned repair shop that you can trust.
Great service, friendly staff! They explained the issue with our car before they worked on it and showed us the damaged parts they replaced when we picked it up. The most honest mechanics we've used since moving to Minnesota!
I have a really hard time finding a shop that I like dealing with. Most shops feel like they are just rushing you in and out. I started going to hometown auto about six months ago. This is the first place in a long time where I feel like I can actually have a conversation about my car and really understand any issues with my car.
I have a 2011 Traverse and has then replace all the struts, rotors, brake pads and do a chemical flush on all fluids. I also had them repair an A/C leak. They had a loaner car available and did the work as promised. Pricing was about 20% lower than the previous garage I have worked with even. Friendly staff and excellent work ethics.Larry
I received excellent customer service today when I brought my car in to get new tires. Everyone was so professional, knowledgeable, and dare I say it - honest, which everyone knows is a rare trait for car mechanics. I will definitely be making home town auto my go to mechanic from now on. Thank you!!
Hometown auto is the only place I take my 2001 geo prizm. They have kept my old buggy running smoothly and they are the only place I will take my car. Honest, friendly, and always ready to help. They can't be beat for superior workmanship and honesty.
Jon and Clint Spohn have been my family’s mechanics for 10+ years and through many vehicles. It doesn’t matter when I call them or stop by with a problem, they always work me in and get the job done in a timely manner. I was very excited when I heard they were taking over ‘HomeTown Auto’ in Lakeville, MN because they always give back to the community. In just a short time, they have already hosted fundraisers for kids in need where if you get your car fixed on a specific day, all proceeds earned will be donated directly to the family of the kids to help out. They are honest, trustworthy and do amazing work. I will continue to recommend them to everyone I know.
Todd is so welcoming! Great service. Got a rental which was very helpful. They did not find the problem with my car but it is an issue that doesn’t happen all the time. I’ve been going to Hometown Auto for many years. I will never change. Keep up the great work guys!
I have brought my previous car to Hometown Auto and of course am bringing my new vehicle to them. I trust them to take care of my car and level with me with needs to be fixed and what can wait. I am always treated with respect by all of the folks there. I will not be bringing my car anywhere else!
Clint, Pat and crew were amazing!!!We were on the road heading to CO when I stupidly put unleaded fuel into my diesel truck.I can not tell you what a great group of guys work at Hometown Auto! They took my wife and I in, kept us fully informed of what the status, they were kind and just great to talk to.Our truck was fixed and we were on the road by the end of the day.They were fantastic! If you want HONEST mechanics, this is your place. I wouldn’t trust my vehicles to anyone else. These guys treat you like your family when you walk in the door, and the prices are fantastic too. Free loaner cars is just one bonus they view as a standard way to take care of their customers. They go above and beyond with every encounter. Look no further, this is your new mechanic.
I have been going to Hometown Auto for several years and cannot say enough positive things about this shop. I have been to many different auto shops over the years but none compare to Hometown. I had an issue with my vehicle that needed to be towed, the owner literally left dinner with his family to meet me at the shop at 8 at night. They are stand up guys and shop. They also support the local community and truly take care of their customers.
Hometown Auto is honestly the most and only trusted auto repair company I go to. Ive never been told anything but the honest opinion and never been pushed to do a repair that wasn't needed immediately. I always refer all my friends and family to them as they are not only honest but very fairly priced. I look forward to being a great customer for a lifetime! Oh and they give you a loaner car for free so you don't have to sit and always wait! Amazing!
I've been taking my vehicles to Hometown Auto for over 10 years. They are honest and helpful. Hometown gives me the small town feeling, where Pat, Clint and Todd have always been welcoming, informative helpful and honest. It's great that they offer a loaner car when work needs to be done on my car. Highly recommend them!

Finally found an honest, nice, family-owned auto repair shop. Had a leaky tire that I kept having to fill every day to every other day. I took it to a tire place and they filled it with a spray and called it good. The next day it was flat again. Took it in to HomeTown and met Clint, the owner. He was very nice and approachable. They dipped the tire in soapy water to see if there was any air leaking out and found three holes in it! They even brought out the tire to show me the holes! They were able to fill the holes with plugs but honestly told me I'm probably going to need new tires soon... which I had already suspected. Granted they didn't do any mechanical work to my car, I trust their judgment and like that they are family-owned.
I'm planning on returning for auto work. Hoping they feel comfortable working on imports!
