Disappointed experience.Called in about battery replacement over the phone and got a quote for 250-320 and ~1.5 hours max and that the tech would be available the next day in the morning.Brought the car in, and the tech there (red hair gentlemen) told me it would take atleast 2 hours. Sounds good, but I asked if it could be done faster, and I wouldn't mind waiting if it did take 2hrs. He said it'd probably take some time and says that it'll need a complete seat removal for them to do the work. But this isn't right, the battery is just a small one on the driver side fuse panel accessible under the instrument cluster on the drivers side housed in a 12 screw casing. Then I asked if he wanted to take a look, and after looking and going back indoors, he comes out and tells me based on his google search he would need to remove the entire side of the fuse panel inclusive to do this. Infact, he wouldn't want to do this since he's unsure if it will create issues for the cars programming. Alright fair enough, sounds like a tougher job, but my consults from other shops after all confirmed it's a straightforward job doesn't require removing anything other than battery.Overall what's concerning is the lack of knowledge demonstrated from all the wrong and inconsistent suggestions. Imagine he removed the seat and the side fuse panel! That'd rack up costs high for no reason. Not to mention telling me over the phone one thing and then in person another. Save yourself the time, go to another location where they tell you what's what and have the experience.
Tried to upsell on work that wasn’t needed. Prices are higher than other mechanics. Gave the car back in an undriveable state without completing agreed upon work. Had to bring it back in, was a time waster.

Always great service - the service writer they have there - is the best ever! very informative - very complete. I think her name is Jess. She is always helpful. She is very technical and able to explain what is going on.
Len’s Automotive is a company my family and I have trusted for over 30 years for car repairs, periodic inspections and maintenance. They do a thorough check on systems, filters, etc. and are always friendly, and explain what needs to be done. They also provided a AAA discount!
Good, knowledgeable shop. Service area is very clean and good communication. Repair work was a bit slow (had my Honda truck for a week to change timing belt). Repair costs are in-line with other shops. Will return for future work.

When I was first called after the service was done, the customer service person said that they were recommending a replacing the coolant at a cost of more than $400. I asked why they thought the coolant needed replacing and he said they had run tests. I asked what service was done on my car 6 months ago when I had last had it serviced at Lens. .... sure enough, last time you had replaced the coolant.
This breaks my trust. How can I ever trust your recommendations again?

Update 6/14/24:Len’s Automotive is a relief and reliable! Post oil-change, I took my car back in for more extensive repairs based on their previous free courtesy check working with Ethan. Repairs were planned to be done in 4-5 days - they had it done in two. I wasn’t able to pick up my car the day the work was completed and they were happy to keep the car until I could pick it up the next day. The final price for the repairs was even less than originally estimated - they found ways to save money which was a pleasant surprise. Len’s Automotive has gone above and beyond expectations. I appreciate your service as a team and your professionalism Ethan!Original Post:Len’s Automotive delivers. Worked with Ethan for a car oil change and the car was in and out same day. Great price for service and the team even provided recommendations for what else needed fixing. Really appreciate this level of detail. There were a few minor issues including confirming the correct schedule date, the price of services, and the courtesy shuttle but every thing was eventually resolved. Happy to return for more servicing in the future.

I was slightly disappointed that Lens did not want to fix either of my main issues (differential leak and catalytic converter replacement). I was given good referrals to other businesses, but neither job seemed all that difficult. I replaced the differential seal myself, and I have a replacement catalytic converter on order. It apparently requires no welding.
Your technician did a good job isolating the problems, which was very helpful. And I did appreciate the list of other items they discovered that need service.

Ken’s Automotive diagnosed a slow coolant leak on my truck. By testing, they found the leak and recommended unscheduled service on the turbochargers. This led to discovery of a severely failing metal turbo exhaust gasket. Had that metal gasket failed, metal debris would have destroyed one of the turbos. The careful diagnosis certainly avoided thousands of dollars in engine damage. This shop applied their knowledge and intelligence to my significant benefit. I reached out to Len's in a bit of a pickle, knowing I needed a new alternator and needed it quick to make sure I didn't get stranded. I explained to them the situation over the phone and they said they would get me in and do their best to get it done quickly. Feeling relieved, I arrive and then they tell me about the ~$250 inspection fee. At this point I felt like I had no choice as I didn't know how long my car would continue to drive. However, prior to agreeing, I inquired about estimated cost to replace the alternator and they told me they could not tell me that until after the inspection. They complete the inspection and quote an outrageous price, roughly $300 higher than others to replace it. From here, I reached out to more shops, and every single one was able to give me an estimate over the phone to replace an alternator.They will not price match nor waive the inspection if you complete the work there. Further, I didn't get my triple A discount as advertised. Unsure how much of the quote was due to me being a female or if it was just misquoting the labor. I took my car elsewhere and saved $200 (after the inspection fee, so it could have been $450 saved). I regret going to Len's first so hopefully the next person seeing this will have more time to complete their due diligence instead of getting roped in here.The one saving point for them was the staff were nice and communicated well
