Excellent shop for Volkswagen repair. Rizzoli's provided fast and fair service and did everything they could to keep part costs down. The mechanics and customer service people were extremely patient and accommodating - they even dropped off my car when I was unable to get a ride to the shop. I highly recommend Rizzoli's to anyone in need of European auto repair. I don't live in town, but if I did, I'd definitely use them again.

I took my car in for a tune-up at a different shop and walked out with a blown head gasket diagnosis. :( They didn't want to take on the repair, so I called around SLO to get a second opinion and ended up deciding on Rizzoli's due to all of the positive Yelp reviews. What everyone has said is 100% true. This place is probably the most immaculate auto shop I've ever seen. You are offered donuts and coffee when you check-in. If you need to get somewhere afterward, they have a free shuttle in a Mercedes that will drop you off anywhere in SLO and then pick you up when your car's ready. The "shuttle service" at the last place I went ended up being my own car driven by one of the technicians. :P They don't talk around you when explaining what work your car needs done and are glad to explain anything you are curious to know more about. Possibly because my car was going to be *very* expensive to repair, they only charged me a $110 diagnosis fee, which was then applied to the repairs I decided to have done with them. When an optional extra expense came up, they called me to ask what I wanted to do and explained the reasons for doing it. It wasn't mandatory right this moment, but since the engine was already out, it was kind of a "might as well" situation. It took them a little over a week from start to finish to do the repairs they quoted and they kept me pretty well informed during this, though I did have to call and check in once or twice. After I picked it up, about two days later the check engine light suddenly came on. It was rather annoying to me because I just paid them a huge chunk of money to fix the damn thing, so I brought it into their shop within 20 minutes of it happening. They did a diagnostic and found it to be some sort of tube malfunction, so they replaced it. This took about 15 minutes and they did it for free. Thanks for handling the situation with poise, Rizzoli's. I really appreciate it.

I am a huge fan of the Rizzoli's Automotive team. They are friendly, fast and fair. My car is always clean after it gets checked out and their shop is amazingly tidy. Thanks Rizzoli's for keeping my car in such great shape.

Gave me a (what I thought was) high quote to run a check engine light diagnosis. BUT final cost was only half the quoted amount. Super nice staff. Gave me great repair advice even though they couldn't do the repair. And there was a free shuttle to my work and then back to the shop. Add in the free coffee and donuts and there is no way they made any money off of me. I'll definitely come back though

While much of my first review still holds, I have to post an update as a result of a recent experience. I took my car to Rizzoli's to get the clutch replaced after some slipping issues. The issue was pretty simple: the clutch and probably the flywheel needed to be replaced. While the labor costs were fairly reasonable, the cost of the parts was nearly double any online parts retailer (they wanted to charge over $1,500 for $800 worth of parts). Even when confronted with this and given the opportunity to use customer parts, they stood by their retailer's outrageous prices and ultimately lost my business. This is unfortunate as, like I mentioned before, their customer service is fantastic.

Went there to get a smog check, mentioned Yelp for the $10 discount, and they were great! Pointed me in the direction of the free cookies and coffee as soon as I walked in :). And even for something as small as a smog check, they washed my truck (outside and inside) and offered to drop me off and pick me up anywhere in town. Will definitely head back there for any work I need now!

First, a disclaimer: I didn't actually have my car repaired at Rizzoli's, but I tried. :) They couldn't get me in, but were happy to refer me to a neighboring shop with a pretty glowing recommendation, and they were right. I think it says something pretty good when a business stays focused on helping a prospective customer by referring them elsewhere when they aren't able to do the work themselves.

I have used a number of auto shops around San Luis Obispo to work on my car, from the dealer to other shops, but I have now found the one I'll stay with ... The service level at Rizzoli's is outstanding, their demeanor on the phone and general service levels are impressive. I'd recommend them to anyone who is looking for great service for their vehicle!

Quality of repairs was fine, but vastly overpriced. I came here instead of the dealer specifically to save money, and they ended up charging more than what was quoted at the dealer. I was told that the $150 "diagnosis fee" would almost certainly be substantially reduced depending on the problem, but of course I ended up paying the entire thing, and none of it could be applied to the cost of the actual repairs. Won't come here again.

Smogged two trucks here because it's the cheapest around. I would definitely recommend this place. Great service, cookies and coffee, free shuttle wherever you want to go. And they wash and vacuum your car for free afterward!

My 16 year old daughter was on her first road trip 3.5 hours from home. She was heading out of San Luis Obispo up the Cuesta grade when her car started to shudder and lose power. She pulled over, called me and we called AAA for a tow. AAA asked where we wanted the car towed to. Knowing no one to ask for a recommendation and not wanting to go to a dealership I quickly searched Yelp for help :-) The good ratings that were posted for Rizzoli's by other readers sold me on the spot. I gave them a call and they were at the ready to help out. They diagnosed the car within a few hours and ordered the part which arrived the next morning. They gave me a quote and the price was a few dollars less in the end. They shuttled my daughter from downtown so she could get back to her car and my daughter was pleasantly surprised to see it washed and vacuumed too. As an extra note they guarantee their service for a year or 12,000 miles and being so far away, if the replaced part fails for some reason they will still honor the repair if my local shop contacts them first. From one small family business owner to another, and as a parent who couldn't be there when my kid needed help I appreciate Keith and Patrick being there to help facilitate her getting back home. Thanks guys!

I've been taking my car to Rizzoli's for 9 years and have been very happy with my experience there. They get the job done right the first time whether it's a quick oil change or a major service. They're big on customer service and it shows. They really take the time to explain all the work they plan to do and will tell you whether you really need to have the work done right away or if you can wait a few thousand miles. I've taken three cars to Rizzoli's for service - everything from a Toyota pickup truck to a Mercedes Benz E-Class and I would recommend them without hesitation.

Wow, thank goodness for Rizzoli's! My car had some repair problems, and I had taken the car to German Auto, another independent repair shop in town. These guys treated me terribly, they quoted me almost $500 to do a relatively simple repair. I took the car to Rizzoli's who quoted me $325 to do the job, much better, and to my surprise when I came to pick up the car the bill ended up being about $230! Even after I had agreed to pay $325 earlier! They even did some extra testing on the car and didn't even charge me. To top if off, German Auto wanted to charge me a $15 "Information Access Fee", what the hell is that??! I later found out its a fee they charge to look up the "over inflated book times" they charge, so if the book says it takes 5 hours, but it only takes them 2, they still charge 5 hours. So basically, a fee to rip me off, what nerve! Getting your car repaired is about TRUST, seems like most shops out there are predators, just waiting to take full advantage of the next sucker. Rizzoli's is a place you can trust, their pricing is reasonable, and I'll be trusting them for all my future auto repair.

Rizzoli's is overpriced, but it's the only place in SLO that I would trust my car to. Getting any basic service includes a 36 point or whatever inspection, and they wash and vacuum your car. Bonus.

- good price/performance ratio. Very friendly and fast. Bonus was a shuttle service, brought me back to work and picked me up again when the car was done. I'll defenitely go there again...

My first time using them and they will definitely be my go-to from now on! I called last week when my check engine light was flashing and they were able to get me in immediately (like literally, got in the car and drove straight there). They fixed a tire stud that I had been procrastinating on fixing, my rear brakes, and diagnosed another issue that another repair shop had "fixed". The Ford dealership would have literally charged me double to triple this, so they are very fairly priced. Luis was awesome about communicating everything in a timely manner, and was able to reach out to a family member to get everything authorized since I was at work and couldn't respond. When I got my car back the next day, someone else (not Luis, maybe Steve) walked me through everything and made sure I understood what was done and what will need to be done. Bonuses: the shuttle ride home, my car was washed when I got it back (bless whoever did it because it was very dirty lol), complimentary pastries/coffee in the lobby, Karen texted me the next week to make sure everything was going okay. I think this is fantastic customer service and I will be recommending them to everyone!

Have used them for years for a Jeep, Honda, and now a Kia. I don't typically review but definitely a five-star company. Price is middle-upper for this area. I'm okay paying for good work. No quality issues over dozens of visits. Customer service and care are review-worthy. Special shout-out to Steve. One of the friendliest and most helpful guys I've met. Thank you Rizzolis. Happy to post another good review.

I liked them, and brought my Mercedes here for routine service, until one day a oddities happened. I was told my windshield wipers needed to be replaced for $100. Now, I know Mercedes repair is expensive, but when you can buy them for $15 and do it yourself, that's ridiculous. But the bigger problem was this: After declining, I took the car home and cleaned off a small leaf trapped under the wiper blade, and they work perfectly. No streaks at all. Ah yes ... and on the way home, the hood sensor bleeped to tell me that my hood wasn't latched closed. So I pulled over to open and slam it shut. When you can't do the basics, I don't trust you to do the complicated stuff. Since they are not significantly cheaper than the dealer, I now go to the dealer where I know they will be responsible for any mistakes.

Thanks for the great service again this past week with my smog certification and other repairs needed for my Mercedes. Rizzoli's, continues to provide outstanding care, knowledge and quality service beyond the norm of a dealership with a family touch with pride. Karen and Kyle are top notch and run a great business, Steve at the service desk is super friendly, genuine, knowledgeable and always there to help get me in and out as quick as possible due to my busy schedule. The service repair team are spot on with quality work and efficiency. I'm a customer with high expectations and they deliver, see you next time. Jim

Rizzoli's Auto is seriously the best in town! I've been going to them routinely for years now (after having several bad experiences with Jiffy Lube and Mazda in town); their customer service, timely and cost effective maintenance and the "extras" they provide set them apart from all others in SLO. Steve and Luis have great communication skills and are always happy and friendly; they literally know me by name now! Karen and Kyle are wonderful at making sure my service was exemplary and always take the time to make sure I'm happy! Rizzoli's also washes my car, vacuums the inside and provides complimentary shuttle service. I can't say enough good things about this family run business!
